Climate Apocalypse

It was a rainy afternoon of Month of July , I was having coffee with my travel agent friend. Generally months from April to August are busiest period for my friend due to tourist season in Europe . I could sense it that my friend was little low on  this year. He shared his view on European weather. Due to very hard summer in Europe most of the travellers are avoiding the trip. Ofcourse, it seems unbelievable but true. Year by year European countries are being witnessed of scorchy heatwave. End result reflects in to low tourism.

Majority of environment scientists agree on one opinion. Global temperatures set to reach new records in next five years. Since last few years European countries are facing the historical heat strokes.

From March Venice became the major headlines for this.
Many of us must have seen photos of Venice over the social media. There’s one thing you won’t have missed: the half-dry canals, containing more mud than water.
Gondolas, water taxis, and ambulances are finding it impossible to navigate canals in these contditions.

Earlier it was flooding that threatened the canals of Venice. But this year, they are drying up due to an unprecedented spell of dry winter weather and scarce snowfall in the Alpine mountains. Images being shared on social media show the canals reduced to muddy pits.

It’s the result of bassa marea, or low tide – although in Venice that means something rather different to what you might think of. Also known as acqua bassa, or low water, the term is used when water levels in the lagoon city are more than 50cm (20in) lower than average. In last couple of months, levels reached a low of -70cm (28in below average) as per the news papers reports.

As per the report published on the various site the Po, Italy's longest river that flows from the northwest Alps to the Adriatic, has 61 percent less water than usual at this time of year. Meanwhile, Northern Italy's Lake Garda has experienced record-low water levels, so much so that it is now possible to walk across an open path to the tiny island of San Biagio.

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Venice has 118 tiny islands which are linked by canals and bridges. The iconic Grand Canal is the main route through this historic city, which is often most at risk from rising sea levels.

A high pressure system, a full moon, sea currents, and the lack of rain are all being cited as contributing reasons to the problems in Venice.

This comes after unprecedented warm weather across Europe thawed the snow on ski slopes and forced ski resorts to close this winter.

French resorts near Mont-Blanc had to cancel the World Cup telemark ski race. Some ski destination had to resort to artificial snow. Since the majority of the snow had melted from the slopes, many ski resorts in France and Switzerland announced that they would be closed. Among the countries affected by the winter heatwave were Denmark, France, Germany, Poland, Spain, and Switzerland which had their warmest January days on record, with temperatures climbing to 21 degrees Celsius.

So what’s going on, and certainly  it will  affect the travellers trip to Venice or Europe?  Does it mean is this a situation for Venetian s and travellers ?

Answer is NO.

This is not the problem of Venice or Europe. This is global warming. The worst projection for climate change in 2023, is that the chance for the average global temperature to rise above 1.5°C has increased to almost 50% for the next five year period between 2022 and 2026.

We have witnessed heavy floods in North India , torrential rains  in many states. This is also the part of global warming .
These calamity is powerful enough to change the Demographics of world.

As a citizen of the world each and everyone should be constitent to save mother Earth .

This problem cannot be tackled Without litercy and strong will.
